What it means
The card or the account it is linked to is invalid, expired, cancelled, or does not exist.
Why it happens
There is a problem with the account behind the card, such as it being closed, cancelled, or never valid.
If you’re the cardholder
Contact your issuer to confirm the card works, or use a different card.
If you’re the merchant
Advise the customer to verify the card with their bank; do not silently retry.
