Generic Decline
What it means
The transaction was declined without a specific reason being returned or exposed by the issuer or processor.
Why it happens
The issuer or fraud/risk system blocked the payment but did not provide a mappable, specific decline reason.
If you’re the cardholder
Contact your card issuer to find out why the payment was declined.
If you’re the merchant
Advise the customer to contact their bank; avoid blind retries of the same card.
